Main Star - Science Experiment

For my science experiment I took 4 plastic cups 4 iron nails and in each cup I put something different in Cup #1 I put water in Cup #2 I put vinegar in Cup #3 I put sand and in Cup #4 I left it empty and put 1 nail in each and left it .
I predicted that in the water it would rust and so will in the vinegar and in the rest it will stay the exact same.

These are the results:

The water got darker the vinegar got way darker and the rest were the same.

  1. Hi Yotam
    Cool experiment!
The "darker" was small pieces of the iron nail, dying the water and vinegar darker.
The water got the tiny pieces of iron because the water seeps in through tiny cracks, weakening it. It is the same as water for the vinegar but vinegar is acid so it eats it easier.

Next experiment: put Sodium in water and stand back!

  2. Hi Yotam
You will need safety goggles and tweezers to pick up the sodium!

  3. Great experiment Yotam. At the beginning, your assumption was that the nails in the water and vinegar will rust, so why did you think it didn't rust?
Keep up the good work :)

  4. Wow Yotam! you have done so much since my last comment.Saba and I are very proud of everything you have done.I have lots to write in my comment.
1)Your 3D model really is awesome and funny-looking!
2)I LOVE snow peas,I wish I was there with you to eat some when they are ready.
3)Making cat-sratchers is a very good idea, especially as you chose to make something that you can donate. Also, you were working as a team, good on you.
4)Your science experiment is very interesting,I also thought the nail would rust in vinegar.(Thankyou Jjimmy for your explanation)
5)And of course I was thrilled to see you have put The Liverpool Football Club's badge as your background.
